God is About to Come Through For You  Psalms 86:14-17
As I spent time with the Lord the Holy Ghost directed me to these Scriptures.  This is a timely word for God’s people.

Psalms 86:14-17
14 O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.
15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
16 O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid.
17 Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast helped me, and comforted me.

David was under attack and wrote about it.  Thank God, men of God were bold enough to write about their trials.  In verse 14, David wrote about two types of people that were attacking him.  The words he used to describe these men are very revealing. The first group was ‘proud’ which means: arrogant and presumptuous.  These are people who feel as though they are better than we are and treats others in such manner.  You are up under attack by people who think lowly of you; and, they are convinced that where you are now is your final destination.  God has news for this first group.  Little that they realize, God has a plan for us.  In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” The word thoughts used here means ‘plans’.  Where you are now is not your final destination; you are only passing through.  David said in Psalms 23:4, “Yea though I walk THROUGH the valley and the shadow of death…”  If you are going through something, you are bound to come out to the other side.

The second group of people mentioned here by David are called violent men.  The word violent here means: powerful or tyrannical:  mighty, oppressor, in great power, strong, terrible.’  This group are the ones in authority who use their position of influence to attack you; and, they are constantly seeking occasion against you that would bring harm.  About this group, David said they sought after his soul. They are driven by the forces of hell.  Jesus said the thief comes to accomplish three things: steal, kill and destroy.  God has news for this group as well.  The word of God promises in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper and every tongue risen against you in judgment it shall be condemned.”

The encouragement is found in the following verses “But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.”  David goes on in verse 17 and prays that God would “Shew me a token for good…”  The token means: ‘miracle’.  When the pressure is on through many avenues, David encourages us to believe God for a miracle. Dear friends, like David, many of you have been going through the same tests, but I believe God wants me to encourage you. He is working on your behalf.  Here is David’s reason for believing God for a miracle, “…THAT THEY WHICH HATE ME MAY SEE IT AND BE ASHAMED…”  Yes, that is exactly right.  Your enemies will see God work for you, and they will be ashamed.  Here is the rest of the verse that show us clearly that God answered David’s prayer,  “…because thou, Lord hast helped me, and comforted me.”  Help is on the way.  The comfort that you have cried out for is about to happen.  Be of good courage your situation is about to take a turn for the better.
